Illumos nuevo proyecto basado en OpenSolaris

Leyendo por barrapunto, aunque ya lo había leído en la lista de Opensolaris, veo que ha nacido un nuevo proyecto llamada “Illumos”.
Lo anunciaban así:
Esta tarde fue la esperada presentación de Illumos. Antes de que se supiera nada del proyecto, las especulaciones volaron por la red, hasta el punto de que sus principales impulsores, Nexenta, tuvieron que desmentir que se tratase de un fork. En la presentación de hoy se ha desvelado que Illumos es una derivación del código Opensolaris (el conocido como ON), con el objetivo de liberarlo de las partes privativas que aun necesita, así como de la dependencia de cualquier compañía, entre otros. No es un fork, puesto que se va a seguir nutriendo de las mejoras que se aporten al código oficial propiedad de Oracle, aunque se le parece bastante, en cuanto que se trata de un proyecto totalmente independiente. El hecho de que tampoco presente, por el momento, una distribución binaria fácil de instalar y usar (como lo era Opensolaris 2009.06) aleja por el momento el proyecto de los usuarios finales, y al mismo tiempo lo convierte en un reto de cara a revivir este gran proyecto de software libre.
El Software Libre ya tiene una calle dedicada

Pues si, acabo de leer la noticia. Al Software Libre le han dedicado una calle en la población de Berga. 
Esta noticia es casi mejor que el partido de fútbol de hoy. 
Virtualbox 3.2.6

Guau, como va evolucionando Oracle/Sun con VirtualBox. Ya es una alternativa, libre, frente a productos de pago como VMWare o Parallels. Os recomiendo usar este producto a nivel personal. A nivel de empresas es otro cantar.

Kernel Linux 2.6.33-libre

Desde el año 1996 el Kernel Linux no ha vuelto a ser Software Libre. Esto es debido a que Linus Torvalds incluyo en el código partes no libres, distribuyendo desde el año 1991.
Como bien es sabido, el kernel ha ido creciendo poco a poco y con ello muchas partes de código no libre.
Para los que quieran un Kernel totalmente libre, la FSFLA ha liberado una versión del Kernel Linux 2.6.33-libre sin código que no sea totalmente Software Libre.

Acaba de salir la nueva versión de Ubuntu Tweak 0.52, la cual corrige bastantes bugs solamente. Por lo cual se recomienda la actualización, a esta nueva versión, a todos los usuarios.
